Today Annie Oakely, another 8- year- old ewe, gave us two grey ram lambs from Rare Find Farms Emmett. This is one of the boys and the other one is almost identical. They have long legs and will have long straight fleeces.
This blog is about the Dotson family and their Shetland and Icelandic sheep among other things that go on in their lives. We have sheep for sale if you are interested in a pet, fiber animal, or new ram. Please leave comments or like us on our Facebook farm page- Hidaway Farms.

More Babies and Promised Pictures
Introducing Bethia's little grey katmoget ewe lambs...Don't they look cozy together? Born at dark on March 28th.
Here the oldest girl makes Katie's aquaintance. We must befriend these little girls before letting them out of the lambing pens. Bethia is one of our original Shetlands and is a total hands-off kinda girl. She'll take them to the farthest corner of the pasture.
Look at the youngest lamb's little "sugar lips"! They have been bounding around the pen tonight like jumping beans!

Baby Announcement
Highlander Farms Bethia & Hidaway Farms Razzle announce the birth of twin grey katmoget ewe lambs.
Bethia was bred the day we put the rams in with the ewes. So today was day 148 and about an hour or so from breeding. Wow!! The old gal did well. Bethia is 8 years old and one of our origianl Shetlands. She has a beautiful single coated medium grey fleece. This is only the second time that she has had girls. Katie is thrilled!! Both lambs have nursed and all is well!! Pictures tomorrow...

From Carhartt Overalls to Flip Flops
What is this? I thought it was finally winter. March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, so the saying goes. One week later (March 9) and we have 70+ degree weather. All living things are thinking it is finally spring.
Katie and Lauren wore flip flops Monday...from coveralls to flip flops in one week.
We're not holding our breath...the warmth isn't here to stay. Normal temperatures will return for the weekend.
Two weeks and a little, and we will have our first little lambs. What usually happens when lambs are born? Could we still have another snow?
